Since early April, several women from our church have been planning and practicing to launch a new ministry intended to reach out to the younger (than most of us) generation on social media. We see how God meets people where they are with His truth, speaking life into those who have ears to hear. We see how in our current culture young women are busy, turning to social media for encouragement and answers. It seems to be an open door through which God is calling us to preach His truth.
It has now been five months of preparation, and yet we have not posted one social media post. We have been met at every junction with resistance, delay, technology issues, anxiety, etc. Yet every woman who was called to this group has remained persistent and is persevering in the face of opposition. Not one has felt as though God is against us but rather that God is for us. We are learning lessons in the waiting. We know that someday He will open the door for us to move forward. We are humbly walking with God, following His call, resting in His plan as He is refining each of us.
Personally, I have been learning that everyone needs encouragement, to set aside my vision for a group vision as we’ve sought God’s vision, to balance waiting with action, to always be ready, that God’s body is made up of different parts that must work together as one for His glory. We are taught to be so independent in our culture, yet God’s ways are for us to be interdependent for His glory.
For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. (Romans 12:4-5 ESV)
I will take my stand at my watchpost and station myself on the tower, and look out to see what he will say to me, and what I will answer concerning my complaint. The Righteous Shall Live by His Faith And the LORD answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it. For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay. (Habakkuk 2:1-3 ESV)
Write the vision, make it plain, wait for it! Oh how God’s word speaks to us. Just the right words at just the right time. He affirms in us His plans.
Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD! (Psalm 27:14)
So we press on in faith knowing that God will bring about His plan. Our part is to walk humbly, know His word, be ready with an answer. We must be willing to go when He calls – knowing not where. We must be ready to sacrifice for His great glory.
Lord God, thank You father for working in us and through us. Thank You for the privilege of being used for Your kingdom. Lord may all that we do be multiplied so that others will come to a saving faith in Your son Jesus Christ. Help us love what You love and hate what You hate. Help us to be in the world but not of it. Help us to value eternal things not temporary things. Help us to understand Your word and to share it with those who are ready to receive it with joy and apply it. Give us wisdom to see where the harvest is ripe. You have promised to equip us for each good work that You have prepared for us to do. Help us to fully trust You and to walk by faith. Amen.
Some visions are awaiting their appointed time, but don’t doubt the One who has called you. Learn to wait and watch for what the Lord will do. Be encouraged. Press on!
