Better Than a Tree

I have heard several sayings that have stuck with me in the past couple of days.  One of the funnier ones was “You just can’t unsee some things!”.  It seems to me that you also just can’t unhear some things.  Good and bad what some people say to us, satan will use to tear us down, discourage us, or even defeat us.  On the flip side, we can use our words to lift up and build up.  This is one area in my life that I’ve had to be intentional about.  However I’ve found that even if my intent is to build up, the other person can perceive what I have said as tearing down.  I must really know my audience!

Another great truth was that “Relationships don’t thrive because the guilty are punished, but because the innocent are merciful.”  This goes along with the third, in marriage, are you willing to forgive as you have been forgiven?  All truths and teachings that we find in scriptures.

The final one for today was just an affirmation of my previous posting “Go”.  If as Christians, we only live our lives out as Jesus taught us to do, but we never actually speak the gospel to those around us, we are no better than the trees.  They display God’s beauty and purpose, but they are unable to speak the truth about salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.  We have a responsibility to speak God’s grace and mercy to anyone who will listen.  Jesus sent His disciples out into the world to proclaim the good news.  If you are His disciple, you are to go to all the nations to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ and the eternal life and salvation that He offers.  We are not just His hands and His feet.  We are His disciples.  And to His disciples He says GO.  TELL.  FISH.

Be a fisher of men.  Learn how to tell your testimony and share your faith in a way that includes the gospel message.  There is a world filled with lost people that desperately need to hear it.  Be encouraged.  Press on!
