Hope Comes

He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus! The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all. Amen. (Revelation 22:20-21 ESV)

These are the final words of the Bible.

Lately this word, Come, has been jumping out at me.  Mostly as it relates to Jesus; us coming to Him AND Him coming back for us!  As I was driving this morning, David Crowder’s song “Come As You Are” was playing on the radio.  Another song by Chris Tomlin, “Even So Come” resonates with my heart.  They sing of light and truth.  They sing of HOPE.

He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.  The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. (Revelation 22:20-21 KJV)

I was gardening with a friend this morning, and the subject of our studying end times prophecies came up.  Both of us agree that it isn’t something we fear, but something we are excited to see come about.  Satan being banished and then destroyed.  Jesus reigning on the Earth followed by the new Heaven and Earth for eternity where we abide with God.  New heavenly bodies in place of these perishable ones.  No more tears.  No more sorrow.  HOPE.

As we labored in the dirt, pulling weeds and planting seeds we talked of our HOPE in Jesus Christ.  He promises that He will come soon, yet we sow and labor until He returns for His bride – the Church.  No one knows the day or the hour when He will come for us.  But we live in the HOPE and the knowledge that He has already overcome the evil one.  The one who is in us is greater than the one who is in the world, Amen?!  God keeps His promises.

But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only. For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. Then two men will be in the field; one will be taken and one left. Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and one left. Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming. (Matthew 24:36-42 ESV)

By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already. Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. They are from the world; therefore they speak from the world, and the world listens to them. We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of error. (1 John 4:2-6 ESV)

Oh that the Spirit of truth will guide us as we walk through these last days waiting on our Savior to return.  I pray that God will continue to reveal His truth in my heart and in yours as we seek Him daily.  Stay awake beloved.  Stay awake.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.  Be encouraged.  Press on.
