Walking with God at our Garden Getaway

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: (Ecclesiastes 3:1 ESV)

A time for every matter.

He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end. (Ecclesiastes 3:11 ESV)

God is timeless, we are not.  Yet He placed eternity into our hearts.  Time matters to us for now.

Today I head off to help direct our annual women’s retreat.  Our focal passage of scripture for the next two days is Ecclesiastes 3:1-8.  I hope you’ll pray for us as we meet together seeking God and His perfect timing.

I never know what burdens women carry; what pain and frustration will be in their hearts when they arrive, what their expectations will be for their short time unplugged from the routine of life.  But God knows.  It fascinates me how He works all things together to bless each of His precious daughters so precisely, giving each of them what they need in this season, this time in their lives.  I stand in awe of God.  What a blessing to get the opportunity to be a part of His great plan.  Pray with me that God will reveal Himself and strengthen us for His good work.

Our leadership team has done what we can to prepare the events for the weekend.  Now it is time for God to work through us, to move His Holy Spirit in our hearts.  To meet with the broken hearted and to strengthen us with His presence.  Some of us come with great joy and expectations as we have this opportunity to focus on God and to walk closely with Him.  Others are coming with anxiety and no idea what to expect.  Pray that God will revive and refresh each of the women as only He can.

a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; a time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace. (Ecclesiastes 3:2-8 ESV)

Seasons of life come and go.  Lord help us to be content in each season of life as we walk with You.  Show us Your ways and mold us to be more like Jesus.  Fill this conference with Your presence.  Let love overflow.  Amen.

Appreciate the uniqueness of the season of life you are currently in.  Learn the lessons that God has for you there.  Reach out and help those who are currently walking through your seasons of old.  Encourage them and give them hope.  God has placed blessings among the ruins.  He turns our ashes to beauty.  God is good all the time.

Know Him.  Walk with Him.  Be encouraged.  Press on.
