In the Midst of the Tedious – Proclaiming Him

Daily life. Frustrations. Unmet expectations.

Lack of sleep. Body image.

Demands on you from others.

Pain, hormones, fear, not knowing what to do.

In all of the beauty of new life and new love there is also motherhood.  The hard work, the absence of thank-yous, the self-less giving of motherhood that wears you out and brings you down.  The 24-7ness of it all can be overwhelming – especially at first.  The rude awakening to the fact that life isn’t going to be how it used to be.  This is something entirely new.

A new normal.  A new reliance on God for strength and direction.  A new phase of life.  God has grace for all of our stages.  He has plans to use the 24-7ness to stretch us and grow us into beautiful, seasoned, women of God who demonstrate to the world the greatness of life lived with Him.  He teaches us to be servants at heart; one opportunity at a time, one moment at a time, one day at a time.  Each new season, each new child, brings a new opportunity to draw closer to Him as we seek guidance and strength to walk in righteousness and to speak with love and grace to those around us.

Behold, I am doing a new thing;

now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?

I will make a way in the wilderness

and rivers in the desert. (Isaiah 43:19, ESV)

As we choose to proclaim God’s call over our lives – over every aspect of our daily lives – we are choosing eternity.  We are allowing God to reign and to build His kingdom through our jars of clay.  We are shining our light (His light) to the broken world around us revealing truth and offering hope.  The goal is not perfection but an imperfect-holiness covered and perfected only by the blood of Jesus.

So in the midst of the tedious today Lord, pour out Your Holy Spirit on us.  Thank you for the reminder that we must lay down our lives in order to pick up our cross and follow after You.  Thank You Lord for Your love, grace and patience with us in our weakness.  Thank You Lord for do overs, second chances, forgiveness and healing.  Fill us to overflowing so we may be a blessing of a servant to those around us in Your holy name.  Amen.
