Peas, green beans, peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, an overflowing abundance. Did you ever wish there was some happy medium? Feast or famine, when it rains it pours, you know the drill…all or nothing. My garden has been reminding me that we need to be ready when the harvest is ready. Ready for hard work, long days, to receive God’s abundant blessings. Sometimes what God desires for us can overwhelm us, especially if we are not prepared.
I heard a sermon today that drove home this message. If we choose to sit back and take life easy, doing as we please, not intentionally working on our relationship with Jesus but rolling along with the expectations and pleasures of the world, when God is ready to move in our lives, to pour out blessings on us, we will be caught unprepared, unable to receive all that He has intended for us.
I hope that you are spending time with Jesus each day. Allowing Him to speak to you, to light your path, to provide you strength and courage to face the day, to bless you beyond measure. He desires that of you. Work hard to be intentional, to be holy, to be a blessing to God and others. Then you will be ready – equipped for the work God has prepared for you. Prepared to receive and overflow with His blessings for you. When we, God’s people, are faithful, He blesses us with His overflowing abundance.
2 Chronicles 31:9-11
Hezekiah asked the priests and Levites about the heaps; and Azariah the chief priest, from the family of Zadok, answered, “Since the people began to bring their contributions to the temple of the Lord, we have had enough to eat and plenty to spare, because the Lord has blessed his people, and this great amount is left over.”
Hezekiah gave orders to prepare storerooms in the temple of the Lord, and this was done. Then they faithfully brought in the contributions, tithes and dedicated gifts.
