Ezekiel 37:14 And I will put my Spirit within you, and you shall live…
Ahhh…the sounds of music…the lifting of the Spirit within me as the gathering of believers joins together in song to the Lord. Days of Elijah ..the dry bones becoming as flesh… New life breathed into dry bones. And that is just what it feels like; tired, old, dry bones being breathed back to life by His Spirit.
We worshiped God this morning with a congregation that didn’t know our names; but it didn’t matter because the Holy Spirit within all of us was in agreement. Our creator and sustainer breathed life and we soaked it in. Peace Like A River. Hands lifted, offerings given, prayers spoken.
I tried to be fully awake. Noticing the small things – how the old wooden floor and pews creaked when those they held moved ever so slightly. How the high windows let in such lovely light, how the Cross, hung at the front of the sanctuary, was so simple – two slim pieces of wood – how the man in front of me enjoyed his fresh strawberries – and how the lady who was so pleasant must be the pastor’s wife. But what really stood out was Him. His presence in that place is what made it a sanctuary. Visible in so many ways if you just notice the small things – the raised hands – the bowed heads – the hearts rejoicing – the connection of the body – the raised voices in songs of praise. The invisible was visible. There is no God like Jehovah!
